The Procedure

Turkey is quickly becoming known as the “hair transplant capital” where you can get cutting-edge procedures with qualified medical professionals without having to break your bank account. Once such procedure is the Follicle Unit Extraction, also known as the FUE hair transplant technique.

Why Hair Transplant?

Hair loss can be a huge source of stress for many people. Luckily, there are many options to restore hair growth and allow you to feel confident in yourself once more. We're extremely proud here at Revival Hair Transplant to offer the chance for both men and women to regain their confidence and restore their hair naturally.

How It Works

An FUE transplant involves taking individual, healthy hair follicles from your skin and transplanting them to the thinning area. It is a low-risk, minimally invasive procedure that will allow your hair to grow again without any issues. Within the rest of this article, we will answer any questions you have about the FUE hair transplant procedure - and probably some questions you didn’t even know you had!

The Time Required

How Long Does The Hair Transplant Turkey Procedure Take

You don’t need to worry about waiting through an extremely long procedure that takes up your entire day. In most cases, an FUE hair transplant session will last anywhere between 3-5 hours depending on the severity of hair loss. That’s pretty much the same length of time as watching two really good movies! This is because each hair follicle that is transplanted needs to be done individually. In some cases, a patient will need multiple FUE sessions. It really depends on the number of hair follicles that must be transplanted to the thinning area. If you need multiple sessions, don’t worry! They will each still remain within the 3-5 hour timeframe, and since an FUE is an outpatient procedure, you’ll be able to go home and relax between sessions.

A Healthy Donor Area

Where Are The Hair Follicules Extraced Form?

A Follicle Unit Extraction works by taking healthy hair follicles from a chosen “donor” area and safely transplanting them to the thinning area, also known as the “receiver” area. This process is so successful because it is completely natural! Doctors are using your own body’s resources to stimulate new hair growth. Of course, a common question is where exactly the donor area on your body is. While this can vary between patients depending on your consultation with your doctor, hair follicles from the back of your head are most likely to be extracted. This is because they are healthy hair follicles that grow naturally but are not in an area where most people care to grow their hair. That makes them perfect to be transplanted to the thinning or balding area at the top of the scalp. If you have any more questions about the hair follicle extraction process, don’t hesitate to talk to your doctor.

Painfree Procedure?

Will The Hair Transplant Procedure Hurt?

For many people, the biggest question they have about procedures like the FUE transplant is whether or not it hurts. Luckily, the pain from an FUE procedure is relatively minor. Since the doctors will apply a local anesthesia during the surgery, you won’t feel a thing. The entire area will be numbed. This numb feeling can last for a few hours following the procedure. Oral pain medication will be provided to take following the surgery. It is normal for there to be some discomfort in the days after the procedure, including a scalp that is sensitive and a bit swollen. Expect to feel sore for up to a week as the transplant settles in. In the long run, there is a very little amount of pain compared to similar surgical procedures.

Tools Used?

What Instruments Are Used During A Hair Transplant Turkey?

Now that you’re more familiar with how an FUE hair transplant works, you’re probably wondering what tools will be used during the actual procedure. First, your doctor will use a razor to shave down the donor area and the receiver area in order to better access the hair follicles. To complete the actual extraction, they will use a micro punch tool. This tool is commonly used by dermatologists, and it is a circular, hollow blade attached to a smooth handle that can easily extract hair follicles with no damage.  Your surgeon will use this tool frequently in order to extract every hair follicle needed to complete the transplant. Finally, they will use a small surgical needle or scalpel to make an incision on the scalp (the receiver area) in order to insert the new hair follicles. After the new hair follicles have been inserted, your surgeon will clean and bandage the area. It’s a very simple procedure with great results.

Things To Be Aware Of?

Any Side-Effects?

Luckily, an FUE procedure has a high success rate with few side effects. While you may experience some swelling and discomfort following the procedure, this should go away within a week or so. You’ll be provided pain killers to help until these side effects disappear. There may also be a tiny white scar where hair follicles were extracted, but since the donor area is a non-noticeable place such as the back of the head, nobody will even see them. A Follicle Unit Extraction is a low-risk procedure with great results. Make sure to read up on pre-op and post-op advice in order to maximize your chances of success. Just imagine: within only a few hours, healthy hair follicles will be restored and ready to start growing!

Awake Or Asleep?

Will I Be Awake During My Hair Transplant Turkey?

This is a very common question for any medical procedure. When it comes to the FUE technique, there is no need to worry. You will be fully conscious for the procedure and able to speak and interact with your doctors. The surgeon will apply a local anesthetic to both the donor and receiver areas, so you won’t feel a thing. However, since the surgery is so minor, you don’t need the full anesthesia that makes you fall asleep. You’ll be awake the whole time! Some doctors can even arrange for you to watch a movie or listen to music during your procedure to prevent boredom, although you’ll need to speak to your medical professional about this.
